By the end of March, Topeka will have its second operational Scooter's Coffee location. According to franchisee Curt VanLaningham, who co-owns the new shop with business partner Randy Fair, the Scooter's being built at 3830 S.W. 29th St. is scheduled to officially open March 29. A reception is being held Friday to honor longtime Topeka developer and businessman Ross Freeman, who died Thursday at the age of 81. According to Freeman's obituary, published by Dove Cremations & Funerals, a reception will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the Dillon House, 404 S.W. 9th St., to celebrate the late Topekan's life.
