brian: phil, it s absolutely true that in many parts of the state of florida right now, the oil problem has been somewhat manageable. it eventually has to go somewhere, doesn t it? yep, it does get in the loop current. this is giving it a 68-80% chance. that will have problematic situation for the east coast. real quickly, all of these houses on the stilts, these are called camps down here, they re all beach houses, people that drive down here for the weekend and the big holiday weekend. typically, you will have three to four families all hanging out, having a good time this fourth of july. most of the houses are unoccupied this weekend. brian: thank you. in a related story, too few claim adjusters, a report from consultant hired from the state of louisiana. and they found without public pressure, fewer checks were mailed. they reported b.p. mailed 2,500 checks on june 21, a week after pressure from the state. five days later, less than ....

Be a worse-case scenario. a large spill of oil and then a hurricane moving somewhere in the vicinity. now, the question is, where does a potential hurricane go in relation to the spill? if the hurricane moves to the right of the spill, then you could actually see the winds of the hurricane blow the spill to the south, that means it could interact with the loop current and push the spill under the floor, through the straights and up the east coast and potentially affecting the carolinas. probably not the northeast. if the hurricane goes to the west of the spill, then the counterclockwise winds would blow the spill inland to places like biloxi, mobile and perhaps pensacola, an area that is still recovering from the effects of hurricane katrina. the last thing they need is an oilcane. a hurricane combine would the oil. we see the huge sprays that come when the water and the ....

Exploration plans and it reads like a greenlg tragedy which is a warning about the dangers human huberrous. they make these claims about how safe it is, about how even if there is a spill, it won t make to shore because it s too far, it s 48 miles. and nowhere in this report do they mention the loop current. it they have so little faith in the power of nature that they think they can control it. and you see the push and pull when you talk to the people because so many of them depend on oil and the oil industry for jobs. and, in fact, i think if you went down there and you talked to most of them who have any director peripheral ties to the oil industry, they want deep water drilling again. they want their jobs back. they need to have a source of income. so where do you balance it this? what do you do now, where does the government go? that s the really difficult ....

The gulf and tar balls from the bp oil spill have washed up on the beach in panama city, florida. that s the furthest east they have been spotted so far. crews are cleaning up tar balls ranging from the size of nickels to half dollars. searing heat and humidity for much of the south, especially true along the gulf coast where folks are really having a tough time there. if it s not the heat and humidity it s the oil. bonnie schneider has more on that terrible combination. absolutely. looking at the forecast we have some favorable things to talk about. there s been a lot of concern about the oil getting into the loop current which wraps around florida and then heads up to the eastern atlantic. this is the way it s shaping up now and the way it is likely to stay for the next week. there is heavy oil indicated in blue. the circle is an eddy coming off the loop current. that s almost its own whirlpool but some of the oil has been wrapping around in here. ....
