Officers yesterday named the man, who died following a crash on the Loop Road on Thursday night. The road was closed for several hours and motorists were asked to avoid the area while an investigation was carried out. The force has identified the 85-year-old-man as John McTear, who is from the Whitehaven area. Mr McTear leaves behind his widow, two sons and his grandchildren.
