Unprecedented summit on nuclear security. it comes less than a week after president obama signed a nuclear reduction treaty with russia aimed at limiting both countries atomic arsenals. joining me now is casey hunt, a congressional reporter with politico. good morning. good morning, alex. so this summit will be focused on securing the so-called loose nuclear material. what exactly is the president trying to get his hands on here and get a grip around? well, this has been one of the president s top priorities since the campaign. he s invited more than 40 heads of state to come to washington to talk about how we can best secure what s called loose nuclear material. bits and pieces of highly enriched uranium or plutonium that if a criminal gang or a terrorist group got ahold of could be used to make a so-called dirty bomb or set off some sort of terrorist attack. okay. and a lot of that is generated from is it russian nuclear phys sill material that got lost and created things ....
