Groton One year after it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hundreds of residents and visitors lined both sides of Route 1 on Sunday for the town s Fourth of July parade, reviving an annual tradition. The parade, which started at Poquonnock Plains Park and ended near the post office, was one of several in the region celebrating the Fourth of July. Crowds also flocked to Stonington and Lyme on Sunday for holiday festivities. Groton City Mayor Keith Hedrick, excited to see the people alongside the road, said there was nothing more normal than motherhood, apple pie and a Fourth of July parade. ....
