OLYMPIC-BOUND swimmer Dylan Carter returns to competition at the 2021 Federation France Swimming International FFN Golden Tour Camille Muffat Meeting De Nice which swims off from Friday to Sunday.
He begins his medal chase in the men’s 50m butterfly from lane four in heat ten. The former University of Southern California athlete is also expected to vie for honours in the men’s 100m backstroke on the opening day.
On Saturday, the 25-year-old returns to action in the men’s 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle events. Carter completes his three-day pre-Olympic stint, on Sunday, when he lines up in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.

TT swimmer Dylan Carter earned a silver medal on the opening day of the 2021 Federation France Swimming International FFN Golden Tour Camille Muffat Meeting De Nice, on Friday.
Carter, coming off a creditable showing at the International Swimming League in Hungary for Los Angeles Current at the end of 2020, grabbed silver in the men's 50-metre butterfly in 24.07 seconds. Maxime Groussett of France won gold in 23.88 and his countryman Serguei Comte took bronze in 24.17.
Earlier in the preliminary phase, Carter clocked the third fastest time when he touched the wall in 24.13. Grousset had the fastest time of 23.31 and Thomas Verhoeven of Netherlands followed in 24.06.

Olympic-bound swimmer Dylan Carter plans to use his TT Olympic Committee (TTOC) Sportsman of the Year award as added motivation towards his hectic 2021 campaign.
The 24-year old swimmer earned the prestigious accolade for the first time in his pro career, while fellow Olympic debutant and national cyclist Teniel Campbell captured the Sportswoman of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
Carter said, “It really is an honour to receive this award from the TTOC. I was surprised but I’m pleased to join some prestigious company with this award to my name.

OLYMPIC-BOUND swimmers Dylan Carter and Cherelle Thompson made a welcome return to local competitive action at the Amateur Swimming Association of TT (ASATT) Short Course trials on Friday.
At the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, the pair was among a host of other local swimmers who competed individually in pursuit of breaking their respective national age group records.
However, no new records were attained at the trial meet, which was also the first official event held by ASATT since the covid19 pandemic hit in mid-March.

TT swimmer Cherelle Thompson, who has already booked a spot at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, will get her first taste of action on local soil since the covid19 pandemic began in March. Thompson will compete at the Amateur Swimming Association of TT (ASATT) Short Course trials at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, from 6 pm, on Friday.
Thompson will use the trials to test her level of preparedness ahead of the 2021 Olympic Games, which begins in July.
“This year would have been so much fluctuation with training and time in the water because of the pandemic, so with the limited pool time compared to what is normally done it will be really interesting just to see how that plays out for competition,” Thompson told Newsday.
