Even when the elevators are working im not sure that it is worth the long wait to go up and peer through little tiny portholes for a view thats probably better from down here. Even before the earthquake 5 years ago that sent people scurrying down the stairs from the top of the monument the elevator was notoriously mental. David rubenstein donated 7. 5 million to repair it after the earthquake. Now he will give another 3 million to fix the elevator.
