Authorities announced Monday that public transit in the Montreal region will be improved during the rehabilitation of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, notably by offering a link to the health-care system. Transport Minister Genevieve Guilbault announced that the STM will put the 811 line into service with departures every 20 minutes during rush hour from the Radisson terminus.
The Quebec government has given a positive assessment of the first month since the installation of major obstacles to the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, between Montreal s east end and the South Shore, which have resulted in three of the tunnel s six lanes being closed since Oct. 31 and will remain closed until Nov. 2025.
Three of the six lanes in the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel have been closed for a little more than a month. Quebec's Transport Ministry has released some data about car traffic and public transit usage.
Those taking to the roads on the weekend should know that closures on two major routes in Brossard, on the Honore-Mercier Bridge, in the Saint-Pierre Interchange and in other areas will cause delays.
