Faced with the prospect of costly and protracted litigation,  the Loveland City Council reversed course early Wednesday morning, voting to restore the Centerra South urban-renewal plan and financial agreement it had rescinded in November, and to enter into settlement talks with developer McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc., which had sued the council for breach of contract.

Yet another lawsuit has been filed as part of the ongoing controversies swirling around the city of Loveland and its City Council. Loveland resident Peter M. Gazlay sued the city of Loveland on Friday in Loveland Municipal Court, claiming that Troy Krenning was ineligible to be elected to the council because he had refused to submit to a background check before the election.

Centerra South case may be settled based on motions instead of trial

A scheduled trial at the end of February to resolve the dispute over the Centerra South development may not happen at all, if the judge agrees to rule on the matter based upon motions for summary judgment filed by both McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc. and the city of Loveland.
