A DRUGS chauffeur must pay back £8,000 after a conspiracy which resulted in a Worcester police officer being badly injured. More than two years after he was first jailed, former Worcester taxi driver Shakur Hussain had just £8,061confiscated. The mother admitted theft by employee and theft from a person when she appeared before magistrates in Worcester on January 21. The theft by employee involved £27,456 stolen from Alice Bennett in Worcester between April 14, 2015 and August 31, 2019. She is due to appear before one of Worcester's top judges, Nicolas Cartwright this afternoon. She further admitted theft in Malvern between January 1, 2015 and October 1, 2019, this time involving £74,721, also stolen from Alice Bennett. GAS main replacement work has meant the closure of part of a main residential road in the city as from today (Monday, February 8).

Contractors Balfour Beatty are due to start work on Saturday, February 13, in Britannia Square. The work, set to last nine days, will take place in three phases, with the clockwise one-way system running for the duration. Diversions will see traffic using Braymoor Road, Moor Street, Loves Grove, Castle Street and The Tything. There will also be disruption this week in Worcester streets.
