A THUG has avoided prison despite being part of a hooded gang of five who beat a man unconscious in a dark alleyway. Mohammed Raja was sentenced on Thursday for his part in the group attack upon Kester Jardine in Black Horse Walk, Lowesmoor, Worcester. We previously reported that Martin Coffey, aged 26, of Maple Avenue, Worcester was the only person to have been sentenced for the attack, with a 22-month jail term for assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Raja was the latest to face justice and at his sentencing hearing for the same offence prosecutor Amrisha Parathalingam told the court he had been part of the gang that shouted to Mr Jardine and his friend to ask if they wanted to buy weed . ....

Asfandyar Kiani, 20, of Ludstock Close, Worcester, was part of a gang of five who took part in the ‘ferocious’ attack in Black Horse Walk in Lowesmoor, Worcester and left the scene celebrating. Kiani appeared over videolink at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday with a co-defendant in another, even more serious case. Kester Jardine was pummelled with punches and kicks, rendering him unconscious during an attack involving Kiani on March 26 last year. The victim has no memory of the attack at around midnight, waking up in hospital. ....

Photo: West Mercia Police A HOODED attacker who beat a man up and stole his wallet while he lay unconscious is due in court today after he failed to turn up on the last occasion because he may have been asleep in bed. Asfandyar Kiani, who also claimed to have Covid-19 so he was excused attendance on a previous occasion, was due to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, November 27. But again he did not turn up. The 20-year-old of Ludstock Close, Worcester, was one of a gang of five who beat a man unconscious and kicked him as he lay on the ground during what the prosecution described as a ‘ferocious’ attack in Black Horse Walk in Lowesmoor on March 26 last year. ....
