According to
Fox Cricket’s Tom Morris, Maxwell and Finch are unlikely to represent Victoria in the Sheffield Shield again as their hopes of returning to the Australian Test side dwindle.
Morris understands that the duo have held talks with Cricket Victoria regarding their futures and are aware of the focus on promoting young batsmen such as Jake Fraser McGurk, Jono Merlo, Mackenzie Harvey and Sam Harper.
Maxwell hasn’t played Test cricket since 2017, but is a key figure in Australia’s ODI and T20 sides.
The 32-year-old averages 39.81 from 88 first class matches and has seven centuries next to his name.

BBL news: Melbourne Renegades' Mackenzie Harvey pulls off screamer to dismiss Sydney Thunder's Alex Hales

Melbourne Renegades youngster Mackenzie Harvey has pulled off the most spectacular catch of the 2020-21 Big Bash League tournament.
His full-stretch dive and catch at backward point was so extraordinary that Fox Cricket commentator Mark Howard compared the acrobatics to those of a star Australian goalkeeper in his prime.
"It was like (Mark) Bosnich for the Villa in his day," Howard said.
Sydney Thunder batsman Alex Hales had been pulverising the Renegades' attack at Metricon Stadium, blasting 45 runs off just 19 balls.
And when the Englishman connected with a Mitchell Perry full toss 3.6 overs into the Renegades' chase, it appeared he was about to hit his 10th boundary of the night.

State of disarray: why T20 bash is enough to give selectors a headache

The Big Bash has begun and so has the summer bashing season: bash the selectors, bash the players, bash the umpires, bash the DRS, bash the ICC, bash anyone you can think of - because we have lost a Test match, for goodness sake.
All of the above will be copping enough, so let me find a topic to bash that no one else has laid a glove on.

Harvey soars, Hales roars, Gold Coast pours

Thunder extend win streak to five in action-packed contest
The match in a tweet: Catch of the season, vintage SOS, a Hales storm and some classic Khawaja in a very entertaining clash ultimately ended early by the rain in the Thunder's favour
The score: Melbourne Renegades 6-166 (Marsh 87, McAndrew 3-41) lost to the Sydney Thunder 2-117 (12ov, Khawaja 48*, Hales 45) by seven runs on the DLS Method.
The catch: Boy oh boy, wowee, this is some grab, and really the only place to start when summing up this match. A few eyebrows were raised when Aaron Finch labelled Mackenzie Harvey "the best fielder it the world" on the Fox Cricket mic in the Renegades' last game. But Harvey showed why Australia's limited overs captain has such a big rap on him with a brilliant grab in the gully. Words won't do it justice, have a look at the video here, and just note the speed off the bat and how calmly the 20-year-old nephew of former Australia player Ian Harvey deals with it.
