New exhibition at the MacRostie Art Center: An interview with ceramic artist, Susan Feigenbaum


The MacRostie Art Center in downtown Grand Rapids is hosting artists, Corey Olson and Susan Feigenbaum for its April 2021 exhibitions. Opening April 5th, Olsen’s collection of paintings and drawings titled, “Extraordinary Angels,” will be hosted at the MacRostie Gallery, and Feigenbaum’s sculptures will be part of the Minnesota Gallery’s “Flights of Fantasy: Birds, Nature, and Art at play.” In an interview with Susan Feigenbaum, she discusses her relationship to Minnesota, ceramics, and what inspired her to create her newest exhibition.
A graduate of the Minnesota New Institute for Ceramic Education (MN NICE), an advanced certificate program that provides personalized professional development in ceramics, Susan Feigenbaum is a ceramic artist and educator in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. MacRostie Art Center featured artist for month uses window, door screens as his medium
Dave Browne is a full-time visual artist who is currently featured at the MacRostie Art Center in Grand Rapids from Feb. 3-27. His gallery is titled, “In Thin Air: There is a Lot More Nothing Here Than Meets the Eye.” Browne currently splits his time between Stillwater and Grand Rapids. 
With a bachelor of arts degree in Studio Art and Art History from Oberlin College, Browne obtained a masters of arts degree in Art Education from Kean University, and a masters in Counseling from St. Mary’s University. He began his career as a public school art teacher in a large, culturally diverse school district on the east coast. After moving to Minnesota in the mid-1980s, he transitioned to working in social services.  ....

Watermark set to open new exhibit Feb. 1
BEMIDJI The Watermark Art Center will open the exhibit Unutterable Space, Landscapes of Northern Minnesota by Mark Granlund on Monday, Feb. 1.
Unutterable Space is an exploration of the fundamental issues of experience, particularly with regard to northern Minnesota landscapes. Granlund s oil paintings focus on the point of convergence between experience and construct, layers and shape, and the metaphysical landscape where energies of a scene distill into patterns, a release said.
Granlund’s regular visits to the Minnesota/Canada border, where he explores the landscape of his father’s childhood, have forged an attentiveness to its unique combination of water, rocks, trees and sky. ....
