Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said, "Yes, I can say that peak of the third wave is over now because COVID-19 cases are reducing in cities like Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar where the situation was worst during the recent wave of the COVID-19 pandemic."
Tope's remarks come on a day Maharashtra reported 33,470 new COVID-19 cases and eight fatalities.
The Mumbai Mayor said the new COVID-19 wave could be more terrible, and hence Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself was issuing alerts to the states.
