KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) is targeting a 75 per cent marketability of graduates in Malaysia in 2021, said its Minister, Datuk Noraini Ahmad.
She said the percentage was fixed after taking into account the Covid-19 pandemic, which has also affected the country’s economy.
“The target also takes into account the expected unemployment rate issued by the Department of Statistics Malaysia,” she said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2021 for the ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today. ....

Covid-19: number of flight passengers down to 26.6 million this year — MOT

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) estimates that the number of flight passengers has decreased by between -72.8 percent and -75.6 percent this year, following the impact of Covid-19.
Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah said based on the projected Malaysian passenger traffic scenario this year, the percentage would see decrease in passengers to between 26.6 million and 29.7 million as compared to 109.2 million passengers last year.
He said airline companies are expected to take three years to fully recover from the impact of the pandemic but this would depend on the Covid-19 situation within and outside the country. ....

“There has been a downward trend in the demand from domestic and international travellers starting on March 1 this year.
The demand has dropped from 280,321 passengers a day in January to 59,378 a day in September, ” he said.
Hasbi said this in reply to Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (BN-Padang Terap) who asked what was being done by the Transport Ministry to assist and revive low-cost airline industry.
He said based on the outlook for passenger traffic for Malaysia this year, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MavCom) expects a drop of between 26.6 million and 29.7 million or between 72.8% and 75.6%.
This is compared to passenger traffic of some 109.2 million last year, he said. ....
