By Staff Central Maine Power Co., the state’s largest electric utility, announced Wednesday that its president and CEO, Doug Herling, will retire at the end of this month. A news release from the company did not name a successor. Herling has worked for 36 years at CMP, and held various positions with the company and its parent, Avangrid Inc. (NYSE: AGR). He has served as CMP’s president and CEO since 2018, and began his career in 1985 as an equipment operator at the CMP Wyman Station in Yarmouth, according to a news release. Prior to his current position, Herling oversaw the Maine Power Reliability Project, a $1.4 billion upgrade of the company’s infrastructure to improve power reliability throughout New England.
