The move comes after the 210-page report, which details the conclusions of DPD’s two-year Operation Clean Sweep investigation of the Major Violators Unit, was revealed by WDET.
The Operation Clean Sweep Task Force — which found evidence of fraud, forgery and perjury — is "the most in-depth intra-departmental investigative inquiry in recent Department history."
The alleged misconduct was extensive: overtime fraud and forgery, false affidavits and perjury. One officer fraudulently reported $16,000 in court appearances in 2019, according to DPD's Professional Standards Bureau.
