Without any formal training in lutherie, Jewitt, now in his late 60s, has made a name for himself as a sought-after boutique guitar maker.
Perhaps above all, I’d recommend starting right away by finding some inexpensive broken guitars and trying to repair them. Often, people are happy to give them away.
“I don’t ever say that I chose to get into guitar making,” says archtop guitar maker Maegen Wells. “I felt like I was surrendering to a mission.”
