Take a good guy with no brain and a bad guy in a gorilla suit, pack them off in a truck and what do you get? A miserable excuse for mirthless slapstick, in a film that rambles down the road to nowhere.
“Hello Charlie” is one of those ‘fun films’ where you struggle to recall a single gag that was funny enough, within two minutes that the end credits have rolled. The ‘fun film’ classification should draw a ready audience base, for a start. The film — if you can call this a film — will struggle to retain audience interest thereon.

'Hello Charlie' Review: Fun Only While It Lasts | Bollywood

The wannabe Disney feel is there in the relatively breezy first half. Makwana (Jackie Shroff), a notorious scamster absconding from the police, wants to migrate to safer shores (read Dubai) and his mistress, model Mona (Elnaaz Norouzi) suggests he don a monkey suit and be carted to Diu, the sea-port from where a boat can take them there.
Enter Chirag a.k.a. Charlie (Aadar Jain), a young, nerdy man who has to repay his fatherâs debt and, against the express wishes of his uncle (Darshan Jariwala), who owns a truck he says must not be touched except to be cleaned, uses it when Mona offers him a grand amount to cart the caged Makwana, dressed up in a monkey suit to Diu.

STORY: Chirag Rastogi aka Charlie (Aadar Jain) lands up in Mumbai from Indore with no concrete plan. His late father was debt-ridden and so the enthu cutlet with no skill set must find a way to repay the family’s loan. As a quick fix, he takes up an assignment to deliver a gorilla from Mumbai to Diu. The money is good but there’s a catch.
REVIEW: The animal in question is actually a fugitive dressed in a gorilla suit — industrialist Makwana (Jackie Shroff). After duping various banks, the banana hating fraudster wishes to secretly flee the country, and so the ‘clever idea’. Things obviously don’t go as planned as he gets mixed up with a real circus gorilla on the loose, following a random plane crash. Does Makwana manage to escape or not?
