Few people living in Batley in 1955 will forget the excitement created when a film crew from Pinewood studios arrived here to make the film version of “Value for Money”, a novel written by local journalist Derrick Boothroyd, featuring John Gregson, Diana Dors, Susan Stephen and Derek Farr.
