The Supreme Court had given two months for displaying Marathi language or Devanagari script on signboards in shops and establishments before the November 23, 2023, deadline.
On Monday, the civic body said that it has also issued legal notices to the nearly 3,040 shops so far, for not erecting the Marathi language signboards.
The Supreme Court on Friday advised retailers challenging the compulsory Marathi signboard rule in Mumbai to invest in a simple signboard instead of spending money on the legal fees required to challenge the said rule.
