Just Stop Oil supporter Morgan Trowland was released from HMP Highpoint in Suffolk on 12 December, 14 months into a three year sentence. He was sentenced in April 2023 after he and Marcus Decker scaled the Queen Elizabeth II Suspension Bridge, stopping traffic for almost 40 hours in October 2022. His was the longest sentence in British history for undertaking nonviolent climate action. Marcus Decker was sentenced to 31 months. They did their action in service of Just Stop Oil’s demand that the UK Government halts all new licenses for fossil fuels in the UK.
