The Utah Symphony, led today by music director Thierry Fischer, established itself as one of the country’s finest back in the 1940s under the leadership of Maurice Abravenal, after whom its 2,800-seat home venue in the heart of the city is named. The Utah Opera has mounted on average four productions a year since 1978 and as many as five in recent years.
