Vulcan Centaur rocket is on track to blast off Monday.
A new rocket is set to blast off from Florida on Monday, carrying the first U.S. aircraft to attempt to land on the moon in more than 50 years. NASA commissioned the private company, Astrobotic, to build the lunar lander, named Peregrine. The launch is expected to inaugurate a series of missions backed by the US space agency, which wants to rely in part on the private sector for its lunar ambitions. The mission has also caused controversy, as it carries the ashes or DNA of dozens of people, including those of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.
