A young woman was ordered to pay over £650 in fees after dropping a cigarette butt in Rochdale.
Chloe Lluch, 23, of Box Street, Littleborough, was due to appear in front of Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Friday, April 9 for the offence. ....

Shoppers urged to stay local as town centres start to reopen

Shoppers should continue to wear face coverings
Residents are being urged to shop local and support their high street safely as the borough’s non-essential retailers prepare to reopen.
Shops, hairdressers, gyms and beauty salons are among the businesses allowed to reopen on Monday (12 April), alongside outdoor hospitality, as the gradual easing of restrictions continues.
And, with businesses emerging from a challenging year of lockdowns, people who are planning to visit shops are being encouraged to stay local.
Paul Ambrose, Rochdale BID manager, said: “It’s been an incredibly challenging year for our high streets and that’s why it’s more important than ever that we support them as we start to emerge from this pandemic. Our businesses contribute to the economy, culture and life of our wonderful town centres and spending money in your local area means mo ....

A Rochdale council boss has publicly apologised to two of the authority’s senior officers for his behaviour at a seminar.
West Middleton ward councillor Neil Emmott, portfolio holder for ‘quality of place’, told Mark Widdup and Donna Bowler he was ‘truly sorry’ for his actions.
He is understood to have directed an inappropriate verbal outburst at the pair during the event, which happened over 18 months ago, at a community health centre in the town.
Mr Widdup is the council’s director of neighbourhoods, while Ms Bowler is assistant director for place.
Speaking at Wednesday night’s remote budget-setting meeting, Coun Emmott admitted he sometimes opened his mouth before engaging his brain. ....
