Texas A & M President M. Katherine Banks has resigned immediately in the wake of a recent controversy over the bungled hiring of Black journalist Kathleen McElroy.
“The recent challenges regarding Dr. McElroy have made it clear to me that I must retire immediately,” Banks wrote in her resignation letter.
Katherine Banks said she was stepping down after the controversy surrounding her attempt to hire Kathleen McElroy imploded in controversy.
Banks wrote in a letter to the chancellor that “the negative press is a distraction from the wonderful work being done here.”
