Copernicus Therapeutics, Northeastern University to develop gene therapy for treating opioid use disorder

An initial $6.7 million grant comes from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health. Copernicus, a clinical-stage gene therapy company in Cleveland, and Northeastern, which is in Boston, said the grant has the potential for an additional $8 million in Phase 2 funding 'to further move the gene therapy toward clinical trials.'
