SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County Elections has released its first update of vote counts since election night on June 7. They reported that 23,000 ballots still had to be counted on Wednesday morning, and that number is down to about 1,000 plus any ballots that were mailed in by Tuesday that hadn't been delivered yet.
Democrat Mike Franken, a retired Navy admiral, will face Republican Chuck Grassley in the race for an Iowa U.S. Senate seat, winning his party nomination over two competitors.
The county will release the first polling place results at 9 p.m. and continue to update results throughout the night as additional ballots are received.
