Hogsback hiker rescued after fall and injury

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI A woman had to be rescued from Hogsback Mountain after she fell and hit her head on Monday.
Marquette Township Fire and Rescue was alerted around 3:25 p.m. that the 40-year-old woman was about 20 feet from the top and was unable to walk. Firefighters from Marquette Township and Chocolay Township hiked the mountain with ropes, medical equipment and a stokes basket. They reached the victim after 1.5 hours of climbing.
The woman was given medical attention and loaded into the basket. It took rescue personnel one hour and 50 minutes to transport her down the mountain to an ambulance. ....

Marquette Township house fire injures one

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI One person was taken to the hospital following a house fire in Marquette Township Sunday.
Firefighters were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to 695 County Road 492 in Deer Track Village and found heavy smoke coming from the building.
Crews entered the house, attacked the fire and located one person, who was taken to UPHS-Marquette. Their condition is unknown at this time.
A dog in the home was able to get out on its own.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal.
