On 9 February, a new object successfully began to orbit Mars: an un-crewed spacecraft called the Hope Probe. The mission has already returned the first image of Mars, taken by Hope’s Emirates eXploration Imager from an altitude of 24 700 km.
Led by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), the Hope Probe is the first interplanetary mission for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the fifth country in history to reach the red planet. Citing the Dubai Metro as an example, the daily noted that in 2004, five consortiums were selected to build the first stretch of the Metro. Work officially started in March 2006, and just three years later, the first train was flagged off by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who was also the first passenger to board the driverless transport mode. ....
