The Chesterfield Fire Marshalâs Office, in conjunction with Chesterfield police investigators, have determined the fireâs cause to be related to cigarette smoking, which originated in the bed of 70-year-old Linda Carlton, fire officials said. âWe were able to determine the fire was in her bed where she was at the time,â Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Salvatore Luciano Jr. said in an interview. âWe donât know if she was physically smoking, whether it dropped, or whether she put it out in an ash tray [and ashes caught the bedding on fire].â ....
