CONWAY -- Sheridan Coach Scott Hoffman issued one final challenge to his players before they took the field for the Class 5A state championship softball game Thursday night.
El Dorado stood toe-to-toe with Sheridan for the first four minutes in Friday’s 5A South girls’ matchup at Wildcat Arena. But then the Lady Yellowjackets gradually distanced themselves and pulled away to a 58-27 victory.
Sheridan needed just under an hour to dispatch its rival Thursday night.
High school volleyball season begins next week, and Sheridan looked strong in its preseason tune-up Thursday night.
When playing in a softball conference that could potentially become the best in the entire state of Arkansas -- with the addition of Class 5A state champion Benton next season -- you could assume there will be plenty of individual accolades in play with the high school sports season now in the rearview mirror.
