Fort McMurray Catholic, public schools moving classes online for two weeks

The Fort McMurray Catholic and public school divisions are moving all grades to online learning for the next two weeks because of rising COVID-19 cases and the number of staff and students in quarantine.
A joint statement from the two school divisions said Alberta’s Education Ministry approved the switch to online learning on Sunday. School leaders hope in-person classes will return on May 10.

“We want all students to be in school, but with this recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Fort McMurray we know this is a difficult, yet correct decision. We need to once again come together as a community and work together to stay safe,” said FMCSD Superintendent George McGuigan in a statement. ....
