York-based Stauffer's has been making animal crackers for 150 years
It takes a lot of ingredients to operate three shifts of employees at the plant. Steve Brubaker, Vice President Supply Chain, ticks off the statistics: “One million pounds of flour (from local millers) a week arrive at the plant and 25 to 30 trucks a day carrying crackers and cookies leave” to be distributed nationally, with “the mid-Atlantic area the strongest market.” Carrie Kline is a 35-year Stauffer’s employee who started as a cookie packer and is now Materials Manager of Ingredients.
