Mayor Sara Duterte (City Government of Davao / Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN)
During her live program over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR 87.5) Monday, Dutrerte sees a need to look for other means to prop up its income after it decided to reduce local fees and charges in favor of the local businesses which are going through hard times due to the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We’ve seen the income from (cockfighting) is big although it’s not something that will drown the city without it. But we need to look for money from other sources because we can no longer rely on our regular sources like the local taxes, especially now that the businesses are going through difficult times,” she said.

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is investigating whether the three bodies found in riverbanks in the city are those of alleged cockfighters who escaped a raid conducted by the Baguio Police District.
DCPO Director Kirby John Kraft said in a press conference on Wednesday, February 17, that three bodies were recovered days after the Baguio Police Station conducted a raid on Sunday, February 14, after receiving information about an alleged illegal cockfighting activity in Barangay Gumalang in Baguio District.
He said police authorities arrested 13 people on-the-spot during the raid. The arrested persons are currently detained.
He said, though, that they cannot determine how many people were there during the illegal activity.
