Ohio seeing more speeding crashes despite fewer cars on the road

Cuyahoga County leads the state in speed-related crashes. Author: Romney Smith Updated: 6:11 PM EDT May 18, 2021 CLEVELAND — It’s no surprise that some Ohio drivers speed. What is surprising is that speed-related accidents maintained similar numbers during the pandemic when fewer people were driving.  According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in 2019 there were 30,354 speed-related crashes. In 2020, there were 30,120. Sgt. Ray Santiago, Public Affairs Officer with Ohio State Highway Patrol, says the department has been tracking and analyzing the numbers....
