95-year-old Mavis Johns of Gwyddelwern, near Corwen, died on Christmas eve. She was the widow of Paul Johns, a fellow well-known music teacher and great cricketer well-known in the area who died in 2012, aged 86. Together, the pair, married in 1954, had ran a post office in Gwyddelwern after taking it over in 1974. They had learnt Welsh together after moving from the Midlands to North Wales and became influential in teaching many a young budding musician how to play the piano and the violin.
