The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was detected in 69 samples collected from Southwest Florida as of Dec. 9.

Pinellas County ups red tide response with high concentrations found on beaches
A Pinellas County spokesperson said they are implementing phase one of it's red tide response plan after samples found high concentrations of red tide at Pass-a-Grille and Treasure Island. A health alert was issued Friday for the beaches.
