Despite the rain, hundreds of people came together for Naramata’s May Day festival – marking the unofficial start of summer.
Started in 1923, the festival heralds the approach of summer with a variety of family-oriented events including the highlight May Pole Dance at Manitou Park.
Event takes place Monday, May 22 at elementary school and hall
Celtic Beltane Celebration A wide variety of vendors will be there to celebrate, as well as foods, an open mic for music, poetry, and performances, and activities, including a flower garland workshop. The Loka Tribe Dancers will be performing throughout the day! The day will end with a May Pole Dance, or Beltane Celebration, at 6pm. Bring your own ribbon with your wishes to put on the May Pole, the celebratory post. We will all dance to celebrate spring's departure, purity, fertility, growth, and the coming of summer.
