Emma McManus (née Ledbetter) died on Wednesday morning after falling ill during a family holiday in Barbados.
JP’s famous green and gold silks were due to race at Punchestown in Co. Kildare and Warwick in England yesterday, but all nine horses were withdrawn.
These included hurdler Darasso, who was due to run in the feature race at Punchestown.
JP also scratched his runners in Tramore, Co. Waterford, today out of respect for Emma, who was married to his eldest son John. Frank Berry, JP’s racing manager, said: ‘It’s a very sad time for all the family. ....
