A tornado has torn through central NSW, demolishing a house and injuring three people, just a week after Victoria's earthquake.

A tornado tore through Australia's rural southeast on Thursday, ripping roofs off houses, uprooting trees, toppling power lines and causing minor injuries, authorities said.

Tucked down a side street in Meadow Flat, a tiny town of 311 about 166 kilometres west of Sydney CBD, the lane comes alive in autumn when the leaves of the trees turn gold.
