MediaTek said in a statement that the new modem and the chipset series will enable it to facilitate the transition to 5G-NR for a wide range of applications that require long-lasting and efficient battery life, such as wearables, light-weight augmented reality (AR) devices, Internet of Things (IoT) modules, and devices built with edge AI in mind.
MediaTek: “Discussions are ongoing to solve this problem (of cost). Cooperation is required for any new device and we are working on that. It is an important segment. This is why we want to make it work,” he said without elaborating further.
The popularity of MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 is well known, and according to a leak, the company is already working on a more appealing successor, the Dimensity 2000.
