A gop billionaire. propublica is out with a brand new report on a business deal showing republican mega donor harlan crow purchased three georgia properties in 2014 that belonged to justice thomas and his family this is according to state tax documents and a deed reviewed by propublica msnbc has not independently reviewed those documents the transaction was reportedly worth more than $100,000, and according to propublica thomas never disclosed this sale which four ethics law experts say appears to have violated a federal disclosure law joining us now, i want to bring in the reporter. before i do that, though, i do think it s important we let you know we have reached out to justice thomas for comment we haven t heard back, but i do know we have a statement here to nbc news, crow saying that he purchased thomas s mother s home to preserve it for posterity and to eventually open up a museum ....

You. propublica has now reported that the same republican mega donor harlan crow actually purchased three pieces of property directly from justice thomas in 2014 the sale, according to the records they uncovered was about $130,000. this is significant because there is a federal disclosure law that was passed after watergate that does require justices and other officials to disclose details of most real estate sales over $1000 in propublica is finding that justice thomas never actually disclosed the deal at all. so there s been no comment from justice thomas on this, but here s what that mega donor harlan crow actually told propublica in the wake of their report. he said. my intention is to one day create a public museum at the thomas home dedicated to telling the story of our nation s second black supreme court justice. i approached the thomas family about my desire to maintain this historic site so future generations can learn about the inspiring life of one of our greatest americans. ....
