With only three stalls operating, Melaka CM calls for Jalan Hang Tuah bazaar to close

MELAKA: The Melaka government has suggested that the Jalan Hang Tuah mega Ramadan bazaar closes as it is no longer popular among locals.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali asked Melaka Historical City Council (MBMB) to offer the three traders stalls at the bazaar to be offered spaces at other sites.
The Jalan Hang Tuah site has a 100-stall capacity.
I suggested that the organiser dismantle the tents before more losses are incurred.
I will also ask MBMB to assist them (the organiser) in whatever way necessary, Sulaiman said on Tuesday (April 20).
The Chief Minister lamented that the once-popular bazaar had lost its lustre over the years. ....

MELAKA: Melaka s pioneer mega Ramadan bazaar in Jalan Hang Tuah goes empty for the second time, with almost no takers this year.
The tents put up by the bazaar organiser have now been turned into shades for those parking their cars along the street.
Melaka Historical City Council (MBMB) mayor Datuk Zainal Abu said the council has cautioned the organiser to anticipate a lukewarm response based on the 2019 experience.
We have told them (the organiser) that there are already many bazaars in nearby areas that will cause Jalan Hang Tuah to lose its lustre, he said when interviewed on Thursday (April 15). ....
