JOLIET, IL A 6-year-old child was pronounced dead at St. Joe s hospital and Sara Altiery, the 27-year-old Joliet woman who was driving the car involved in Wednesday evening s head-on crash along Route 6, died from her injuries Thursday morning, Joliet police said.
Joliet s Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Carey said the wreck involved two vehicles in front of Ecolab, 3001 Channahon Road. The double fatality happened shortly before 6:30 p.m.
According to Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English, the following events happened:

A preliminary investigation of the crash determined that a sedan driven by Altiery was eastbound on Channahon Road at which time the vehicle veered into the oncoming traffic lane and collided head on with a westbound pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old Joliet man. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Silver Cross Hospital and was then flown to Loyola Medical C ....
