Have two studies coming out in the last week that look at parts of the immune system that are much harder to study than simple antibody levels which you may know, you can look at just with a drop of blood. these studies looked at memory t and b cells and these are cells that once they encounter the infection, sort of go into hiding and if the infection comes out again they get super activated and start pumping out all kinds of things. what these studies showed is the memory cells that were induced by the vaccines were actually quite robust and good and gave a very good immune response to the next set of challenging viruses, including omicron, which was never included in the original vaccine. so very encouraging saying that your body is much smarter perhaps when it s primed with vaccination than we thought it might be based on detection of antibodies alone. is it more these might be ....

Three-dose for those over 65 and high immune compromised and people with cormorbidities. we re going to learn how we can best prolong memory cells because that s what determines best protection against ilinize and i think it s likely we could have protection for years depending on how we use the subsequent doses. let s talk about children because there s been delay in the research on whether two doses or three doses are needed and the study group has to extend its period. so, what about the parents of children under five years old? what hope can you give them? comfort about some kind of vaccine being available? so, my understanding is this is a three-dose trial for pfizer. they plan to finish that three-dose trial by no later than april. they then would submit to the ....

i got breaking news for you on this today, bill. that story in the new york times is a big deal. it focuses on a study coming out of rockefeller university. you don t see the author in front of a microphone or taking victory lapse but in the lab throughout the pandemic studying covid and he has determined after the third booster, the third shot, the booster for the vast majority of us you get t-cells and memory cells ready to attack the virus when it comes in. who should get the fourth shot? not you and me. people at high risk and can t mount an immune response. the fourth shot and we start to see it from israel by the way and should have the data here, too, but we don t is showing that it is not an across the board need. why? i think it s because we gave the first two shots too close together of the pfizer and ....

Longer than the first two vaccines where we knew we needed boosters five to six months later. but there are some preprint studies that show that immunity from a booster might decrease after about ten weeks, which is why you re seeing countries like israel going to a fourth shot but i will tell you, none of these studies can pick up on memory cells, which are great and have really kicked in to help protect us against infections so i think more data will come forward to show boosters last a lot longer than we think. this is a good one. if you were in close contact with a friend for more than 15 minutes and they test positive, when should you test? yeah. omicron is decreasing kind of that time period from kind of exposure to possible infection. if you follow cdc guidance, you should test you should quarantine and test around day five. if you ve got some access to testing, i would love to see people testing as early as day three because we think that coulding be the magic time ....
