Former Rep. Kathy Krider Hawken writes about her recent care at the Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Dr. Lisa Henry-Swanson passed away on Monday, August 28th in her home at 184 Christian Dr. in Grand Forks surrounded by her family and friends. Lisa had fought a six year long battle with the help, devotion and support of her husband, Gregg, against a terminal cancer. She fought for every moment she could have with her boys and family.

Samy Sobhy Karaz was born on October 13th, 1952 in the Helwan suburb of Cairo, Egypt, the eldest of three children to Sobhy and Samira Karaz. He graduated from Cairo University School of Medicine in 1976. He was 27 years old when he immigrated to the United States. He met his wife, Louise (Grann), at Merit Care Hospital where they both worked, he as a resident psychiatrist and she as a nurse. Paul Vandersteen, MD, 85, passed away on May 12th, 2022, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Paul was born on September 2, 1936 as the only child of Rudolph Richard and Mabel Clare (Tybering) Vandersteen in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was raised in South St. Paul and graduated from high school in 1954. He obtained a BS at Hamline University with a Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude, in 1958, and MD at the University of Minnesota Medical School (1962).
