The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has identified the investigator who shot a suspect during an altercation in Panama City on Thursday.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, the incident occurred at approximately 4:47 p.m. nearby the Government Center on 11th Street. The investigator went to the gazebo area at the Government Center to make contact with the Barrett, who is believed involved in a grand theft case in Callaway. It is believed Barrett took over $5,000 in valuables from a home in Callaway. The investigator had been looking for Barrett for a few days and developed information that he was in the area of the gazebo, near a laundromat next to the Government Center.
