At 2 a.m., a black BMW rolled past a house the rapper Pop Smoke was renting in the Hollywood Hills.
The driver circled back and stopped. A security camera across the street captured a passenger getting out and sneaking toward the back of the house before returning a minute later. The car sped off.
The budding rap star was a few miles away at a recording studio on Sunset Boulevard. He returned two hours later and again a car pulled up an Infiniti sedan with its headlights off. This time, four people emerged and slipped into the shadows along the side of the house.
Pop Smoke was fatally shot on Feb. 19, 2020, in Los Angeles, during a home invasion robbery. It was later reported that his death was a targeted attack.
An earlier report noted that on Thursday (May 6), LAPD detective
Christian Carrasco gave a testimony at the preliminary hearing for
Corey Walker, 20, the only adult in the case, that Pop Smoke was killed by a 15-year-old teen.
Three men and two teen boys were arrested in connection with the slaying of Pop Smoke in California.
The 15-year-old reportedly “admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Baretta 9 [mm.],” Camacho said. According to the New York Daily News, the detective revealed that the group of suspects broke into the LA mansion that the raper was renting at the time to steal his Cuban link chain. They only managed to get away with a diamond-studded Rolex watch, which they later sold for $2,000.
According to a report from the
New York Daily News on Thursday (May 6), LAPD detective Christian Carrasco testified during the hearing for 20-year-old Corey Walker, one of three adults who were charged in connection to the beloved rhymer s killing. The identities of the two others have not been revealed, presumably because they are minors. This hearing will dictate whether or not Walker will go to trial.
The detective said on the witness stand that masked men entered the Hollywood Hills home Pop Smoke was staying at back in February of 2020, through the second-story balcony. At the time of the intrusion, the Brooklyn rapper was showering.

The events that led to Pop Smoke s death are now being revealed.
Investigators transpired the details using a first-hand witness’ testimony. LAPD detective Christian Carrasco described a group of armed intruders busted through the second-floor balcony of the Airbnb mansion while he was in the shower. One of the suspects held the woman in Pop’s bedroom at gunpoint while the others rushed him in the bathroom.
“She heard a struggle coming from the shower area and heard Mr. Jackson screaming,” the detective said. “Mr. Jackson ran out of the bathroom and then she heard a loud pop and [heard] Mr. Jackson fall to the ground. Two other individuals began to kick him. Mr. Jackson gets up and run downstairs. She hears two more pops. She follows Mr. Jackson, sees him on the ground and screams for Michael (Durodola) to call 911.”
