Jefferson County sheriff False alarm: Deputies were dispatched to a residence on township Road 218, Irondale, after a man reported hearing “seven or eight” shots fired Thursday in the vicinity of a neighbor’s property. Officers said neither the homeowner or his companion were in distress when officers arrived on scene. Neither of them heard gunshots. The individual who reported hearing the shots told deputies he saw tail lights in his neighbor’s driveway and notified members of the other man’s family, who in turn contacted 911.
